If song did not exist would any of us know our alphabet? Perhaps not!
For three (3) camp summers Phillip E Walker (MFA), Ajene D Washington (MA) and Travis D Walker (JD) applied arts education instruction directly to student academic development. The result is a new performing arts day camp kid summer offering for 2012 which explores basic academic subjects through performing arts activities!
Student to counselor ratio is never more than 5 children to 1 counselor.
Active Academics campers may attend one or more weeks of their choice.
New basic academic subject explored through a different Active Academics camp child summer emphasis each week.
Perhaps Mr. Walker's most successful performing arts day camp to date was the one he created for St. Paul's United Methodist Church under the reluctant administration of its Youth Creative Arts Center Committee. That Camp's 1st summer was featured in a B Section Front Page San Jose Mercury Newspaper report. With Walker's establishing of initial funding, curriculum, outreach, staffing, in short all aspects; this annual local community service has become the Church youth programs' most valued offering. That summer day camp still thrives today.
